CGC-certified Superman #1 Offered in Goldin's Spring Auction

The Summer of Superman is heating up sales of comics certified by Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®), including those in Goldin Auctions’ 2025 Spring Auction on June 14, 2025. Leaping above the pack is a Superman #1 graded CGC 3.0 (lot 4) which has already surpassed $150,000 in bidding.

Superman is widely seen as the blueprint for the modern superhero, with his iconic costume and unwavering use of powers for good shaping the genre as we know it. Superman #1, published a year after his 1938 debut in Action Comics, was the first time a comic book was devoted entirely to one superhero. The comic features a story by co-creator Jerry Siegel that introduces Kal-El, rocketed to Earth from the dying planet Krypton and raised as Clark Kent by Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville. Co-creator Joe Shuster provided the iconic cover and interior art, including a back-cover pin-up that showcases Superman’s extraordinary strength and sets the tone for the legend to come.

As one of the most important and valuable comic books ever created, Superman #1 is one of only 11 comics that have sold for more than $1 million.
